Where is Flash Debug Player v9.0.28.0 for Intel OS X?
Sunday, 10 December 2006As an Intel Mac OS X user I’m starting to feel like a second-class netizen - either that or I’m just too stupid to navigate to the download for the Intel / Universal version of the Flash Debug Player 9.0.28.0. The Macintosh Flash Player 9 plugin content debugger link on the Adobe Flash Player - Downloads page is for PowerPC only. I even tried downloading Flex Builder 2 Beta and Flex 2 SDK again, but the former comes with an old Universal Binary version and the latter is still shipping with the PowerPC-only installer.
If anyone out there has managed to track down this beastie, or if someone from Adobe happens to know where it’s been buried on the Adobe website, please let me know.

John Dowdell | Sunday, 10 December 2006 | 4:27 pmI haven’t been tracking the release schedule for the various Player packagings myself, and so can’t give a quick accurate answer, sorry. I’ll pursue this with the Player team in the office on Monday.

Steve | Sunday, 10 December 2006 | 4:30 pmJohn: Thanks - an official answer would be most welcome. At the moment I have to choose between debugging an application and using some of the additional features in version 9.0.28.0, reinstalling the player whenever I switch modes.

That should solve your issues… J
Jensa: Unfortunately that extension is only for Windows at present
Steve | Sunday, 10 December 2006 | 8:50 pmJensa: Unfortunately that extension is only for Windows at present (which, ironically, has a perfectly good 9.0.28.0 debug player) and I’m using an Intel MacBook Pro running OS X.
We have just installed the latest version of Flex Builder
Simon Barber | Monday, 11 December 2006 | 7:43 amWe have just installed the latest version of Flex Builder 2 for the Intel Mac and it has Flash Player version 9.0.28.0. This was downloaded off the Apollo beta site. I hope that is more official

I too have been looking for the OS X debug
Mike Weiland | Monday, 11 December 2006 | 2:45 pmI too have been looking for the OS X debug version as well. Looks like the only way to get it is to get into the private Apollo beta, can someone at Adobe get us into the Apollo beta. I’ll also test creating desktop applications.
I wonder if this helps. I just read everyone's comments
Katherine Bradfield | Saturday, 29 September 2007 | 6:16 pmI wonder if this helps. I just read everyone’s comments after doing a web search, having problems with my web and video despite having latest Flash Player and was told I did not have Debug Player. I went to http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html#fp8 and found a download for Mac Flash Player 9 Plugin content debugger (intel-based Macs). Is this the thing we are all wanting? Hope so. Cheers

The zip file will take a bit of time to download because it has more than one version of Flash Player 9 within it. Do not bother with version 8, it seemed to go too far back to work. Once the zip file has downloaded and unpacked, there should be a folder on your desktop named “fp9_archive” and within it should be folders of different versions of Flash Player 9. If you are an Intel Mac user, make sure the installer you try using has “UB” somewhere in the title. This stands for Universal Binary and is the version intended for your computer. The other Mac installer is meant for PPC processors and will alert you that you are trying to run the wrong installer when you attempt to run it. If you are a windows user, then look for .exe in the name. The name SHOULD be winax, since you are using windows. That is all I can help with. I hope it works!
