Let’s try that again

Monday, 13 September 2004

Okay, I’ve trashed all the old posts and comments because this place, through my neglect, become a haven for blog spammers. I’ve now upgraded to WordPress 1.2 with built in spam filter, so hopefully this shouldn’t happen again.

I’m hoping to build this place up over the next few weeks into something more useful, but for now this is all!

Hi,

I’m about to commence a dissertation project for my uni assignment. Been learning PHP over the summer but really want to hook it up with Flash for my proj.

A good book out there Foundation PHP for Flash is out of print. Any particular reason? Is there any other book which covers much the same thing? Would like to know if so coz I definitely would buy it!

Regards, Ryan M Male

Ryan: It’s out of print because unfortunately it’s really quite old now. All the PHP stuff in the book is still relevant, but it was written when Flash 5 was around and so the Flash side is pretty much out of date. It is being rewritten (not by me - not enough time) but apparently it won’t be available for at least 6 months or so.

If you’re up to speed with PHP and just want to know how to integrate it with Flash, then you should be able to learn what you need from the web. Take a look at this list of articles in the Macromedia Flash Developer Centre for more information.
